The Kachemak Bay Shorebird Festival welcomed:

Keynote Speaker
Ted Floyd

Ted is the longtime Editor of Birding magazine, the award-winning flagship publication of the American Birding Association (ABA). He has written five bird books, including the Smithsonian Field Guide to the Birds of North America (Harper Collins) and How to Know the Birds (National Geographic), and he has three more on the way!  The Homer Bookstore was at his presentation with books!


2024 Schantz Scholar
Adrianna Nelson

Adrianna began bird watching at nine years old when she identified a Dark-eyed Junco in her yard. She was named the American Birding Association (ABA) 2020 Young Birder of the Year (age 14-18 division).

Adrianna will shared all she's learned while traveling the country and working in various ornithology, education, or conservation positions during her Festival Presentation:The Seabird Connection: Linking Local Birds to Global Conservation.

Torie created the unique Red-necked Phalarope artwork for this year's festival.  Autographed posters and other merchandise featuring Torie's work will be available at the festival.
